Tudor’s Pelagos FXD Chrono Celebrates Cycling’s Italian Icon

Tudor continues its foray into sports-specific chronographs with the striking Pelagos FXD Chrono “Pink” limited edition, crafted to honor the brand’s role as official timekeeper of the legendary Giro d’Italia.

This 300-piece limited edition follows closely on the heels of Tudor’s Formula 1-inspired Black Bay ‘Chrono 25’, this time shifting focus from racetracks to the challenging mountain roads of cycling’s iconic Italian Grand Tour.

Racing For Rosa

The watch pays direct homage to the race’s most coveted prize—the pink jersey or ‘Maglia Rosa’—worn by the Giro’s leader and ultimate champion. Building on last year’s Pelagos FXD Chrono ‘Cycling Edition’ (which featured the Tudor Pro Cycling Team’s red and black colors), this new iteration embraces the Giro’s signature rose hue in its cycling-oriented tachymeter scale and matching stripe on the black fabric strap.

Constructed from carbon composite with a 43mm diameter case, the watch features fixed lugs and incorporates titanium elements in the screw-down crown and pushers for enhanced durability during the rigors of cycling.

The matte black dial maintains Tudor’s signature snowflake hour hand and square luminous hour markers, framed by a 60-minute graduated fixed bezel. What truly distinguishes this timepiece is its cycling-specific tachymeter scale, which wraps circularly around the dial and is calibrated specifically for calculating pedaling velocity rather than automotive speeds.

Beneath the 13.2mm thick case beats Tudor’s robust MT5813 chronograph caliber, offering impressive credentials: COSC certification, a substantial 70-hour power reserve, and a steady 4Hz beat rate. The caseback features special markings reinforcing the Giro d’Italia connection, completing a package priced at $5,600.

Shifting Gears

This pink-accented chronograph represents more than just a new colorway—it symbolizes Tudor’s rapidly expanding presence in professional cycling. Through its sponsorship of the Fabian Cancellara-owned Tudor Pro Cycling Team, which has achieved remarkable success in recent months, the brand has firmly established itself in a sport where timepieces have traditionally been absent during competition.

The timing of this release is particularly significant as the Tudor team prepares for its debut appearance in cycling’s most prestigious event, the Tour de France, thanks to a coveted wildcard entry. While the Tour’s leader wears the iconic yellow jersey (currently sponsored by Tissot), Tudor’s embrace of the Giro’s pink creates a distinctive identity within the cycling chronograph category.

This new limited edition closely resembles the one-off timepiece awarded to last year’s Giro d’Italia winner, Tadej Pogačar, who graciously accepted the Tudor watch alongside his traditional prizes. For cycling enthusiasts and watch collectors alike, the “Pink” offers an opportunity to own a piece remarkably similar to that presented to one of the sport’s contemporary legends.

The Pelagos FXD Chrono “Pink” arrives amid growing enthusiasm for rose-tinted timepieces, following last year’s limited Black Bay Chronograph with a pink dial that commanded premium prices on secondary markets.

With just 300 pieces available, Tudor appears to be banking on similar enthusiasm for this cycling-specific chronograph that elegantly balances athletic functionality with the romance and tradition of one of cycling’s most beloved races.
