Hublot continues to push the boundaries of material innovation with two striking new iterations of last year’s head-turning MP-10 Tourbillon.
The Swiss manufacturer has reimagined this architectural masterpiece in black ceramic and transparent sapphire, further cementing its reputation as watchmaking’s undisputed materials virtuoso.
Black and Clear Marvel
While maintaining the original titanium version’s dramatic dimensions—41.5mm diameter, 54.1mm lug-to-lug, and a commanding 22.4mm thickness—these new variants showcase Hublot’s ability to translate complex case structures into challenging mediums.
The black ceramic model features microblasted finishes and comes paired with a black rubber strap that ingeniously wraps around the entire case, secured by two bolts and completed with a ceramic and titanium deployant clasp.
Meanwhile, the sapphire edition offers a completely transparent experience, with polished case components contrasting against the AR-coated display crystal and complemented by a clear rubber strap that maintains visual continuity around the wrist.
These MP-10 variants exemplify Hublot’s “Exceptional Timepieces” philosophy—horological showstoppers that transcend the brand’s more recognizable Fusion and Big Bang aesthetics. Both new editions maintain the original’s avant-garde time display, visible beneath what Hublot calls an “invisible magnifying glass” (though quite visibly present), ensuring readability of the hour and minute barrels with their luminous numerals.
Perhaps the most innovative aspect of the MP-10 is its linear mass winding system. Rather than employing a conventional rotor, the watch utilizes two 22k white gold weights that slide up and down on vertical shafts to generate power—these are thoughtfully plated to match each model’s aesthetic.
The lower portion of the timepiece houses a 35° inclined tourbillon and a rotating barrel power reserve indicator, color-coded in luminescent green, orange, and red to signal remaining energy. The industrial tourbillon is surrounded by an indexed ring with luminous numerals that track seconds via a fixed pointer above.
Limited Exclusivity
Beneath the spectacular visual display beats Hublot’s in-house HUB9013 caliber, a mechanical tour de force comprising 592 components and 66 jewels. This complex movement delivers 48 hours of power reserve while operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour.
In stark contrast to the dramatic dial side, the reverse of the watch reveals a utilitarian landscape of supporting structures, sliders, and shafts. Here you’ll find the functional setting crown that pops out when pressed before turning to adjust the time.
While Hublot may have recently made headlines with unexpected feline collaborations, these MP-10 variants demonstrate that the brand remains committed to serious horological innovation. The MP-10 collection serves as Hublot’s technological proving ground, where mechanical wizardry meets material science in perfect harmony.
The exclusivity of these pieces matches their technical sophistication: the ceramic MP-10 Tourbillon (Reference 910.CX.0000.RX) is limited to just 50 pieces worldwide at $330,000 USD, while the sapphire version (Reference 910.JX.0001.RT) is restricted to a mere 30 examples and priced at $440,000 USD.
For collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate both technical innovation and material experimentation, these new MP-10 Tourbillon editions represent Hublot at its most ambitious—timepieces that may not necessarily convert the brand’s critics but will certainly command their respect for the engineering accomplishments they embody.
