Furlan Marri marks a milestone with its first 36mm timepiece featuring a rare “officer’s caseback” – an unusual luxury at under $2,000 that honors the aesthetics that propelled the brand’s popularity four years ago.
What began as a pandemic-era Kickstarter success with affordable MechaQuartz-powered chronographs has evolved into a comprehensive watch brand. Furlan Marri has expanded beyond its initial offerings to include mechanical dress watches, affordable flyback chronographs, an upcoming perpetual calendar, and the modern vintage-inspired Disco Volante.
Blending Craftsmanship and Innovation
The new “Red Hunter” Fourth Anniversary model showcases the brand’s commitment to sophisticated details in a compact 36mm package. At 11.6mm thick with a comfortable 44mm lug-to-lug measurement, the watch features a meticulously crafted black lacquer stepped dial.
The multi-level design begins with a cream-printed minute track at the edge, rises around the hour markers, and recedes in the center. Roman numerals aren’t simply applied but thoughtfully integrated across these varying levels, complemented by dauphine hour and minute hands and a striking red central seconds hand with stop-seconds functionality.
The watch’s substantial thickness accommodates its most distinctive vintage-inspired feature: a hunter (or “officer’s”) caseback that protects the Swiss La Joux-Perret G100 movement.
Furlan Marri commissioned enhanced finishing for this caliber, including an engraved tungsten rotor with rose gold coating and snailing. The movement also features Geneva stripes, additional snailing, and blued-steel screws. While the exterior of the hunter caseback maintains a polishable surface perfect for personal engravings, the interior commemorates the brand’s anniversary.
Purchasers receive two French leather straps – black with red stitching and beige – fitting the 20mm lug width. For the first time, Furlan Marri introduces its own stainless steel bracelet, designed by founders Andrea Furlan and Hamad Al-Marri, featuring a hidden butterfly clasp with two-button release.
The “Red Hunter” will be available for pre-order from April 23-May 4, 2025, priced at $1,830.
