Tudor Takes Flight with New Pelagos FXD GMT

Tudor expands its military-inspired collection with the launch of the Pelagos FXD GMT, a robust timepiece developed for the French Naval Aviation (Aéronautique Navale).

Building upon the foundation established with the original Pelagos FXD—created in collaboration with the elite Commando Hubert special forces unit—this new iteration brings GMT functionality to the platform while maintaining its tactical DNA.

Highlighting Tudor’s Military Heritage

Constructed from lightweight Grade 2 titanium, the watch measures 42mm in diameter with a slim 12.7mm profile, striking an impressive balance between presence and wearability despite its substantial 52mm lug-to-lug measurement. The fixed strap bars (FXD) continue the purpose-built design philosophy that has defined this collection.

The matte black dial features beige applied indices with blue-emission Super-LumiNova, complemented by Tudor’s signature “Snowflake” handset. The GMT function is highlighted by an orange hand that glows green in darkness, matching the ceramic GMT bezel insert. Subtle red accents for the product name add a touch of visual interest without compromising legibility.

Paying homage to Tudor’s military heritage, the caseback bears the engraving “M.N.24” (Marine Nationale 2024), referencing the brand’s historical connection to French naval forces dating back to the 1970s and 1980s. This detail connects the modern timepiece to its storied predecessors.

Inside beats the Manufacture Calibre MT5652-U, a METAS-certified automatic movement featuring “flyer” GMT functionality with an independent jumping hour hand—ideal for tracking multiple time zones during international operations. The movement delivers a reliable 65-hour power reserve, ensuring consistent performance during extended deployments.

The watch comes fitted with a “flight-suit green” one-piece fabric strap secured by a titanium pin buckle. An additional removable fabric keeper featuring the French Naval Aviation roundel allows wearers to display their connection to this elite military branch.

Priced at $4,625 and available immediately as a non-limited release, the Pelagos FXD GMT represents a compelling evolution of Tudor’s military collaboration. While some enthusiasts anticipated a chronograph version based on pre-release teasers featuring helicopters, the GMT functionality makes perfect strategic sense for personnel operating across multiple time zones or during extended missions.

The watch strikes an excellent balance between Tudor’s tactical heritage and practical functionality. Compared to the Black Bay Pro, which houses the same movement in a thicker case, the Pelagos FXD GMT offers a more wearable profile while maintaining the rugged characteristics essential for military use.

For collectors who missed the original Pelagos FXD with its M.N.21 caseback, this GMT variant presents an attractive opportunity to acquire a piece of Tudor’s ongoing military partnership—combining the brand’s instrumental approach to watchmaking with genuine operational requirements from one of the world’s elite naval forces.
